We just celebrated the 157th anniversary of the lighthouse on February 1st with a potluck dinner. Managed to squeeze over thirty volunteers and their spouses into the little house! You can see our group picture on the front page of the current (Feb. 3-9) Cedar Street Times. Check out the informative article on page 2.

If you come by to visit you’ll see scaffolding up to the chimneys and drop cloths on the roof. Repointing and repainting is being done on both chimneys. Also, we have scaffolding on the south dormer as it gets a much-needed fresh coat of paint. Some visitors have expressed disappointment that they can’t get a pristine photo without the scaffolding, etc. Our apologies.

Inside the lighthouse fence, to the rear of the house, you can see stakes in the ground. Two sets of four stakes outline the future locations of a gift shop and a restroom. These small buildings will outwardly resemble outbuildings that existed there years ago. We are all really looking forward to the restroom and a shorter hike to "use the facilities."

Dennis Tarmina and Daniel Gho presented an update on Point Pinos Lighthouse restoration to the Pacific Grove City Council on Wednesday February 15. They thanked donors and recognized volunteers in attendance. Dennis stated that progress on restoration is going well and, while there are currently funds for restoration, upcoming restoration projects, namely a restroom and a gift shop, will require additional funding. No tax dollars are being used.
